The entertainment tax which use to exist for rafting has been officially abandoned by the Uttarakhand government. It was in 2009 when the state government had imposed the entertainment tax on rafting and beach camp operators. It was later waived off in 2014 when the operators opposed to it. But later in 2014, the government again imposed the tax. This was because the previous replicas relojes government had agreed to abolish it.

Giving an explanation for the abolition of the rule, President of Uttaranchal Finest Outdoor Association, Devender Singh Rawat said, “The operators have been opposing entertainment tax, which was 20% of the total revenue generated by them. Our reasoning was that rafting is not a medium of entertainment, but an adventure activity. While other adventure sports have been exempted from entertainment tax, rafting has not been exempted. Now the state government has issued a government order which is a big relief to us.”
