Happiness in the air for the Ladakh tourism department as 2 lakh tourists flooded in Ladakh in the period of 8 months that is from January to August. A handout said that to take the stock of the ongoing developmental works in the tourism sector, Secretary Tourism Farooq Ahmed Shah had visited Leh and Kargil areas. To take tourism to the next level, recently, while concluding the ceremony of the Leh Festival the Secretary Farooq said that the CEOs of Tourism Development Authorities of Leh, Kargil and Zanskar and the  audience that the tourism potential of the region will be utilized to the fullest and will be promoted at national and international level. He further said that against 1, 46,000 tourists who visited the region during the previous year, 2, 20,000 tourists visited Ladakh from January till August.
