This is an adventure for the family. This holiday is a combination of numerous experiences - the walk through historic city of Kochi, cruising on a rice boat, living in homestays, living on a working farm, a journey to the Periyar Tiger Reserve for wildlife safaris, traveling to Munnar for treks and finally a beach holiday !

Day 1, 2 : Kochi

On the first day of your Fun, Family, Adventure tour, you will arrive at Kochi International Airport where you will be picked up and transferred to the city. Kochi is a fascinating historical city worth exploring with its narrow streets, spice scented shops enveloping the ‘pardesi’ synagogue, the Dutch museum showcasing murals depicting Hindu mythology and endless rows of shops selling anything from lamps to spices. The experience is heightened on the tuk-tuks that abound in this area. A walk past the Chinese fishing nets and a wonderful rendition of the classical dance, Kathakali in the evening would be an apt ending to your visit to this city.

Day 3, 4, 5 : Rural Kerala

You will be spending the next three days in an organic spice farm to experience life in the interior of Kerala. This farm cultivates a variety of spices which has made Kerala famous throughout the world. This is a working farm. The place is child-friendly as well. They can play in a huge garden, a pool, try to milk a cow or help the farmer to bring the chicken in. The specialty of the place is that everything from fruits, vegetables, spices, milk and honey are all produced organically without pesticides or chemical fertilizers in the farm. There is no better way to learn about Kerala’s rich rural traditions than staying here for a few days.

Day 6, 7 : Munnar

Today, you will be transferred to the hill ranges of Munnar, where you can admire the winding mountain roads, the waterfalls, the tea plantations and the view of the Western Ghats en-route to Munnar. Munnar is a hill station that is 1500 meters high in the mountains. Here, you can explore the tea plantations, learn how to make tea, trek to find some rare endemics birds and wildlife, ride on a mountain bike to a few remote villages and interact with the welcoming inhabitants. You can enjoy the fresh mountain air at the charming tea town of Munnar.

Day 8, 9, 10 : Periyar

Your next destination will be at one of the few habitats remaining for wild tigers in India, Periyar. It is a part of Project Tiger, a wildlife conservation project designed to protect Royal Bengal Tigers from extinction. Set high in the mountains of the Western Ghats, this protected area covers around 777 km², out of which 350 km² is a forest part of the core zone known as the Periyar National Park and Tiger Reserve. The tiger reserve is known for its artificial yet picturesque lake and its tigers which number to about 40.  The other wildlife includes Asiatic elephants, which often come to bathe in Periyar lake. This well-preserved park is run by the forest department helped by local tribes & local communities who live in the periphery of the park. Here you can go on treks into the rainforests,  wildlife safaris, elephant rides, visit the spice plantations, wildlife museum or go on a boating tour on the lake inside the park.

Day 11 : Houseboat

On this day, you will head down to the plains, passing through numerous spice growing villages, rubber estates and paddy fields before arriving at the backwaters and embarking on the houseboat. A houseboat is a reworked model of a Kettuvallam (in the Malayalam language, Kettu means "tied with ropes", and Vallam means "boat"), which in earlier times, were used to carry rice and spices from Kuttanad to the port of Kochi. It is both an enriching and relaxing experience as you lounge on the deck of a houseboat for a memorable cruise through the backwaters of Kerala.

Day 12, 13, 14 : Marari Beach

Your final destination will be the golden sandy beaches of Marari where you will stay at a resort overlooking the beach. Here, you can sit by the beach and sunbathe or visit the surrounding areas on cycles and interact with local people or go fishing with the local fishermen.
