The Rajasthan Cycle ride is the quintessential cultural cycle ride through the heart of a region with great historical traditions. On this ride through the Rajputana region, crossing the numerous erstwhile kingdoms and principalities, not forgetting the deserts, to relish and experience the real sense of the Rajasthan royalty and rural life of the common people. The ride is an assortment of myriad experiences like the cultural vibrancy, the raw beauty of its countryside, the luxurious heritage palaces and castles, great hospitality and the of joie de vivre of the Rajasthani life. The Taj Mahal Extension tour enables you to visit the Taj at the end of your Rajasthan Cycling holiday.

 

Day 1: Jaipur


Arrive Jaipur. Meet up with our guide. After a short break to freshen up, we can start our exploration of the Jaipur city. Also known as the Pink City, this city is rich in its history and culture. Exploring this vibrant and colourful city will give you a mesmerizing life time experience. Among places one could visit are Amber fort and the palace, built in a eclectic mixture of both Hindu and Muslim architecture. Jantar Mantar is the largest and best-preserved observatory in India; it is a collection of architectural astronomical instruments, built by Sawai Jai Singh, a Rajput king, is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

 

Day 2: Roopangarh Fort


Avoiding the traffic we will take a 35 km transfer to Bagru to start our cycling. Terrain is mostly flat and we cycle mostly through villages where you will experience real Rajasthan in its villages, corn fields, temples and ancient monuments. Our destination today is Roopangarh fort which was built in 17th century. This former fortress and palace is a hotel today. On arrival to the fort we can take walk through the ‘secret’ passage and other historical buildings inside the fort complex. There is also an opportunity to we go on a village walk and see the large inland salt lake- the Sambhar Lake. Here is a sight to enthrall you as you see thousands of flamingos and other water birds that congregate here. Evening you will be treated with traditional music, dance and cultural shows.


Day 3: Pushkar


Today our destination is the temple city- Pushkar, one of the oldest cities of India. We will start our cycling from Roopangarh Fort and cycle through the Roopangarh market, bright colourful villages and Khadela fort. While at Pushkar, we will visit the famous Brahma temple, on the shores of the Puskar Lake, considered sacred for Hindus. Here we can also explore the local markets if the mood takes you.

 

Day 4: Khejarla


We have a long undulating cycling route to Fort Khejarla. The scenic Aravalli mountain ranges make the ride exciting. The 400 year old Fort Khejarla is set against a rural setting & has now been converted in to a hotel full of character and our stay will be there with the erstwhile royal family. We will go for village tour at Khejarla on camel cart to visit the 600 year old Durga temple and to enjoy the sunset view. If you are interested in wildlife, this is a great opportunity to go on a Jeep safari to the desert and lake for sightings of wildlife.


Day 5: Jodhpur


We will cycle through the rural villages and corn fields today to visit another important city of Rajasthan - Jodhpur. This is the second largest city of Rajasthan. Jodhpur is famous for its handicrafts, mining fields and marble industries. Main places of tourist interest include the Mehrangarh fort, Umaid Bhawan Palace and Jaswant Thada.

 

Day 6: Jodhpur


Today is the day you will be visiting the desert around Jodhpur & take a leisurely ride to Osian at the edge of the desert. Here the great Thar desert welcomes you with its traditional colour and gaiety. You can chose to ride a camel if the mood takes you. At sunset return back to the hotel.

 

Day 7: Ahore


After breakfast, you will be transferred a short distance to Rohat and you will start the cycling from there. The cycle route is through the main roads, with mustard fields and village folks working the fields & the ever present camel carts passing you on the roads. Your destination today is Ravla Bhenswara where you will be staying in a castle built 240 years ago, now converted to a luxury accommodation in rural Rajasthan.

 

Day 8: Kumbhalgarh


You will start cycling from the hotel initially through the corn fields and last 50 kms through rolling hills with breath taking views all around. The Kumbhalgarh Fort will welcome you to this magnificent place.

 

Day 9: Kumbhalgarh


Today is the day you can go on a safari to the Kumbhalgarh wild life sanctuary. This sanctuary is home to wildlife like leopards, sloth bear, wolf, hyena & the Chousingha. (the four horned antelope). You can also go on a round cycling trip through the Aravallis for some bird watching.

 

Day 10 : Udaipur


Today our cycling route is mostly through beautiful valleys and narrow country side roads. We will finish our cycling at Iswal, famed for an ancient Jain temple. The historic capital of kingdom of Mewar, Udaipur is now a big and important city of Rajasthan. This place is also known as ‘the city of lakes’. Udaipur has its own history, culture and palaces. Evening you will be treated with the cultural shows.

 

Day 11: Udaipur


Today we explore the city of Udaipur. One of the main attractions here is the City Palace on the east bank of Lake Pichola. The famous Jagdish temple is located in the City Palace complex. This three storied temple is built in the Indo-Aryan style of architecture. The Saheliyon-ki-Bari or the 'Garden of the Maids of Honor' of Udaipur was once reserved for the royal ladies.

 

Day 12: Depart


Your Rajasthan Cycling Holiday ends here.

Day 12: Agra


Depart for Delhi & then drive to Agra.

 

Day 13: Agra-Delhi


Visit the Taj & the Agra Fort and return to Delhi airport. Tour ends.

Safety


You would be accompanied by a guide throughout the trip. The guides are experienced, trained in First Aid and fully qualified for the purpose of the tour. They would handle all concerns with regards to your safety and well being.

The weather in North India is tropical and warm except in December and January when it would be cold. Hence woolens are recommended. Monsoons months are June to October.
