The South India walking, culture and wildlife tour focuses on exploring the  culture and authentic cuisines of each region in South India. This tour starts from Bangalore, the metropolitan city of Karnataka and continues down south to Kerala and Tamil Nadu. From the historic monuments of Mysore to the backwaters and beaches of Kerala and the Blue Mountains of Tamil Nadu, the South India Walking, Culture and Wildlife tour enables you to experience the variety of cultures, cuisines and ethnicity that resides in each state. It is the best of everything in one tour !

Day 1 : Mysore

On the first day of your eco and culture tour, you will arrive in Bangalore and will be transported to Mysore. Once you check into the hotel, you can go out and explore this flamboyant city overflowing with history. The infamous Mysore Palace with its Durbar hall, the Golden Royal Elephant Throne and the Jayachamarajendra art gallery filled with paintings of the celebrated painters, Raja Ravi Varma and Svetoslav Roerich are some of the places we recommend. Srirangapatna, the hometown of the Emperor of Mysore, Tipu Sultan and the Chamundi Hills will also be a part of the package.

Day 2, 3 : Coorg

The next day, you will head to Coorg (Kodagu) which is located in a beautiful hilly setting surrounded by the forest slopes of the Western Ghats in the southwest region of Karnataka. Coorg is famed for its cool weather and natural beauty. Coorg is swamped with coffee plantations and is hence known as the land of coffee. The terrain is a combination of mountainous forests and coffee estates connected by winding roads, which are suitable for walks through the beautifully laid-out trails. You will be staying at a coffee plantation bungalow. We could also try our hand at climbing Thudianamol, a spectacular mountain range in the area. As a part of the eco and culture tour, you will also visit the Tibetan settlement and make a trip to the elephant rescue centre at Dubare as well.

Day 4, 5 : Kasaragod

The fourth and fifth day of this exciting eco and culture tour will be spent in Kasaragod, where you will stay at a beautiful resort set against the backwaters and beaches. The resort is the handiwork of Mohammed Gul, who is known for his innovative ways of farming oysters on locally available coconut fibre which helped contribute to the economy of this remote area to a great extent. The breathtaking backwaters and the pristine beaches are something to look forward to in Kasaragod.

Day 6, 7 : Tellicherry

The historic town of Tellicherry will be your next destination. Your day starts with a trip to the fish market and ends with a wonderful feast. You can take a walk on the long stretch of the beach during the day and visit the Parasinikkadavu Muthappan Temple for the traditional Theyyam dance in the evening. A visit to Asia’s largest cinnamon plantation founded 150 years ago will also be arranged. You can hire a bike and ride along the coast and also get a chance to interact with the local fisherman. You can also get a taste of the Mopla cuisine- a Keralan Islamic cooking.

Day 8, 9 : Mudumalai

From Tellicherry, your next destination will be Mudumalai. The topography is varied with hills, valleys, ravines, watercourses and swamps of moist and dry deciduous forests. Mudumalai wildlife sanctuary is located at the foothills of the Nilgiri Hills at a point where the Western Ghats meet the Eastern Ghats in Tamil Nadu. The Mudumalai National Park is a part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve and is regarded as one of the best places to spot wildlife in Tamil Nadu. The Wildlife include elephants, gaurs, Sambar deer, sloth bear,  Malabar giant squirrels, Dholes, cat-striped hyenas, Indian giant squirrels and the slender loris. Although, Mudumalai is also known to have a high tiger population, sighting a tiger is quite rare, but leopards or packs of wild dogs can be frequently seen.

Day 10, 11 : Ooty

Drive up the Blue Mountains (Nilgiris) and you will be at your next destination, Ooty or Udagamandalam. Enroute to this popular hill station, you will pass through thickly forested areas and encounter many ‘hairpin bends’. Once you reach Ooty, which is 2,240m above sea level, you will be greeted by the lovely cool weather. Ooty is best explored by foot. On long walks along these mountain roads, one can find charming English-style cottages that blend into the landscape.
