Trek to Kullu via Sari Pass

 

This trek will take the trekkers right from the middle of the Bir Billing area, which is said to be the heart of the Himachal Pradesh. The trekkers will get an extreme delightful experience during this trekking expedition. Bir Billing is one of the huge valleys located in the Himachal Pradesh region and has a powerful escalation which can make the trekkers feel ecstatic. Because of the manageable terrain of this location, the region is considered ideal for indulging in various kinds of sports as well as adventurous activities. Apart from this, the region is full of vegetation and trees of various types which are bordered by beautiful lakes as well as streams. The sight of these farms is such that the onlookers take pleasure in gazing here.

 

The trek to Kullu via Sari Pass can be easily covered in a week's time and is available for trekkers with varied degrees of trekking expertise. The terrain here is quite manageable and is adorned with different hamlets as well as support centers along its length and breadth. The trek has an altitude of nearly 3000 meters above the level of the sea, hence the altitude can never pose any problem for any trekker. If some time is left after the completion of the trek, the participants can even head for Manali which is one of the exotic tourist locations of the country. If the participants, do not wish to visit Manali, they can stay back in Kullu before beginning the return journey. A lot of adventure sport activities are conducted in Kullu, namely white water rafting; the participants can take the pleasure of these activities.

 

Day 1 : Dharamshala to Bir (by bus 2-1/2 hrs)

 

Bir to Billing - 2600mts, 2-3 hrs trek

 

The trek passes through the region of mixed forest. The region of Billing is famous across the globe for conducting Para as well as Hang gliding competitions. These mountains have a rich cover of vegetation; thus provide a pleasant look to the entire region.

 

Day 2 : Billing to Koti - Kohar, 6-7 hrs trek

 

The Day 2 will give the trekkers the experience of going down the hill and get themselves familiar with the thick cover of the mixed forests present in this region. Our destination for today, i.e. Koti-Kahar happens to be a small beautiful and peaceful village located in the Chhota Bangal valley. Most of the inhabitants of this region are engaged in farming in the terraced fields.

 

Day 3 : Koti - Kohar to Barot, 6-7 hrs trek

 

This is an easy day for the trekkers as they are required to walk down the trail in the middle of the forests. The participants are required to cross the Ruhling river at certain intervals.

 

Day 4 : Barot to Lohardi -1990 mts, 2-3 hrs trek

 

This is a small yet mesmerizing village which is spread on either side of the Lamdug River. The scenic beauty of Lohardi has a resemblance with that of Manali. There is a thick forest cover which is enveloped by high hills on both the sides and beautiful orchards are placed at a level below the valley. This area has a rugged beauty to its credit with a number of unexplored and unvisited treks. This region is also known as a trekker's paradise. Each and every individual feels compelled to admire the beauty of this place when one steps here.

 

Day 5 : Lohardi to Lahesh - 3200 mts, 6-7 hrs trek

 

The trek is often visited by trekkers as well as shepherds for the purpose of crossing over the Sari Pass. This is one of the well defined treks of the Himachal Pradesh region, which passes through the forested ridges in Lohardi.

 

Day 6 : Lahesh to Teun village - 2700 mts, 8-9 hrs

 

The Day 6 is the hardest of the entire trekking expedition. The trek is steep when the trekkers are required to cross the Sari Pass (3760 mts). Sari pass does not have a very high altitude and has a number of green meadows at its top which is used by shepherds for the purpose of grazing their cattle such as goats and sheep during the months of summer. Teun is an ancient village that belonged to the Rajput families.

 

Day 7 : Teun to Naghol - 2700 mts, 4-5 hrs trek

 

The trek passes through a number of small villages in the region of Sari Nallah.

 

Day 8 : Naghol to Kullu , 3-4 hrs trek

 

There is an easy trail present in the region of Sari Nallah. The beauty of this valley is beyond words. The Sari Nallah rambles between the valley and then finally connects with the River Beas in the region near Kullu. With this, the trekking expedition comes to an end with fond memories of the experience.
