Indrahar Pass Trek- A Soul Refreshing Experience
Himachal Pradesh has always provided one of the most adventurous and enthralling experiences to all the trekkers. It houses a number of high mountain passes, gushing rivers and the peaks. One such mountain pass that is located in the Dhauladhar Range is Indrahar Pass. The pass has a close proximity with Dharamshala due to which it is very popular. One of the diverse offerings of the range is the Indrahar Pass trek.
Highlights of the Trek
The trek originates from McLeodganj that is situated in the Kangra valley. It will pass over the stunning Dhauladhar range that is snowbound. The trek will end at Chamba and will showcase the beautiful Pir Panjal and Dhauladhar mountain ranges. The difficulty level of the path is moderate and will cover the green pastures, Rhododendron and the dense Deodar forests.
The trek offers many breathtaking and spectacular views to the trekkers. While trekking, the trekkers get an amazing view of the sacred Mani Mahesh Kailash and the Pir Panjal Range to the north that is snow covered. The Indian plains which are situated towards the south of the beautiful trek offer a mesmerising view to the trekkers trekking at Indrahar.
While moving ahead on the trek, the trekkers experience a trail that passes through the Hindu temples and the villages that are located in the Ravi Valley. By trekking on the route, an individual is offered an awesome adventurous experience which is totally different from the mundane city life. This is due to the fact that the trek requires the trekkers to climb over the boulders.
Must Try It Once
The trek is a quite a steady climb; however, it turns into a steady one through the Himalayan region. While trekking here, the trekkers get to experience the rich wildlife of the region, which includes wild goats, leopard etc. This will be a refreshing experience for an individual. The best time to visit the trek is from mid of May to June and from September to mid of October.

DAY 1: Mcleodganj - Triund (2994 mts/9818 ft.) 10 kms/3-4 hrs
After early breakfast trek begins towards Triund, passing via Dhramkot. The trail to Triund is generally gentle except last few kms. Dinner & overnight in tents.
DAY 2 : Triund – Lahesh Cave (3598 mts/11800 ft) 9 kms/ 3-4 hrs
The trail climbs generally through oak and conifer forest and across the open meadows to the encampment at Laka Got. The last 200 - 300 mts is tiring to Lahesh Cave. Dinner and overnight in tents.
DAY 3 : Lahesh Cave - Indrahar Pass (4375 mts/14,350 ft) - Chatru Parao (12 kms/6 -7 hrs)
Uphill trek with packed lunch. At the higher elevations there is a a steep 300 - 400 m ascent towards the crest of the Dhaula Dhar, before a 1 Km traverse just below the ridge to the Indrahar Pass. From the pass one can view Pir Panjal Range in the north and Mani Mahesh Kailash (5656 M) peak in the east. Descend from the pass to Chatru Parao. Dinner & overnight in tents.
DAY 4 : Chatru Parao - Kuarsi (2747 mts/9010 ft) 15 kms/ 6 - 7 hrs
The trail follows the left of the valley for the first few kms. Later the trek crosses the valley on a permanent snow bridge and ascends steeply to an open meadow. Continue down the right of the valley and after crossing a series of meadows finally descends to Kurasi. Dinner & overnight in tents.
DAY 5 : Kuarsi - Machetar (5886 ft) - Chamba (16 kms/ 5 - 6 hrs)Traveling 80 kms/3 – 4 hrs
Continue trek downhill. Today's trek continues into the valley and from the top mountain views of the whole region can be seen. Descend along the Barley fields to hit the road head to Machetar. From Machetar drive towards Chamba. Drop in Chamba by evening.
