A walk between the nature from 30ft above in the Western Ghats, with the presence of greenery in the air, chirping of birds and explore to the abundant wildlife, sounds like a scene straight out of a movie right? But this is a reality. This ideal imagination is a project by the state government to increase the Eco tourism.

Tourists now will be able to experience a walk between Castle Rock and Dudhsagar Fall on the Karnataka-Goa border. The canopy walk will give tourists a chance to get the glimpse of the nature from a very high elevation. The canopy walk is also going to be blissful for the bird watchers and bird lovers.

Work on the first leg of the project has started on the stretch from Kuveshi to Dudhsagar Fall. The Shendurney Wildlife Sanctuary’s Thenmala Ecotourism in Kerala also attracts huge number of tourists for its canopy walk. The canopy walk between Castle Rock and Dudhsagar in the Kali Tiger Reserve is also part of the proposed Great Canara Trail, the longest trekking trail through the Western Ghats.

The aim and the motive of this project is to create awareness among tourists about the importance of tree cover, and the rich wildlife in the Western Ghats. As per the sources in the department, Rs 84 lakh had been granted for the first leg of the project. "We are working on a 233m long stretch of the walk," a source stated. Needless to say, this canopy walk has already geared out minds to visit it once it is ready.
