Heavy snowfall and snow-slide has turned the national highway Zoji La pass of Kargil in a miserable state. Located on the national highway 1-A at an altitude of 11,649 ft. (3528 meters), Zoji La pass is the only route for its people to connect Srinagar-Kargil-Leh.

Zojila Pass Ladakh Region

Every year, for five to six months, the Zoji la pass closes  due to the snow, resulting Leh remain cut off from Kashmir and the rest of the world via road. Thus the heavy snowfall  forces people to face lack of food and other basic necessities. And due to the closure, people are left with no other option then to survive in the freezing and life threatening weather. Inspite of this extreme situation, as of now, no action as has been taken by the government in order to improve its situation.

The winter temperature of Kargil  reaches as low as minimum 0 degrees. And its every year that people are forced to live under such circumstances.
