This range of Nandi on the craggy hills (the highest peak being 2004 m) holds the shimmering Amrita Sarovar Lake and offers walks of sylvan beauty. A popular health resort today, it was also the place Tipu Sultan and assorted royalty retired when they sought to escape the din of battle and the heat of the plains.

The hills are located about 35 km east of Bangalore and about 9500 ft. above sea level.

 

It is 4,851 ft. (1,479 m) above sea level. It is located close to the newly constructed Bangalore International Airport. In addition, the hills are located about 20 km from the National Highway (NH-7) just after Devanahalli Town.

 

It is a fantastic place to fly from. Plenty of flat land all around the hills. Please look out for power lines when selecting a field for landing. There is usually a designated landing field.

 

Due to restrictions on account of Airport being nearby, Paragliding has been shifted (March 2014 onwards) to Maghdi at about 2 hr. from Bangalore.

It has canopies, which makes the view from the enchanting hills breath taking. Flying freely 4581 feet above sea level can be an amazing experience indeed.

 

For people who want to learn paragliding, there are a few good paragliding schools in north and south India. It is important that they obtain the required information and understand the risks involved in the sport before undertaking the exciting activity.
