Trekking is an activity which does not just test your physical and mental strength and endurance; it also brings you in touch with the very source of humanity. – Mother Nature. It helps you come closer to the natural way of living, the way life was initially planned to be and lets you witness the creation of all life form on earth. A trek in the Himalayan state of Himachal Pradesh in India lets you witness the source of a very important river which feeds the mountains and the plains of north India – the Beas.
Beas Kund is situated close to the very famous hill station – Manali, in the north Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. The trek commences from the very famous Solang Nalla valley, and meanders through the tourist valley of Solang in the higher hills. This is where it snows torrentially every year, and a lot of snow sports such as skiing can be enjoyed. Post transcending through the lengths of the Solang Valley, the trek progresses on to a remote but extremely picturesque place in the hills called Dhundi , before entering the real glacier of Beas. Another remote region you would traverse during the trek is called Bakarthach. Both Bakarthach and Dhundi are known for spectacular views of the approaching glacier, as well as the meadows which ornate this heaven in the hills.
The actual sight of the source of the river Beas is basically a beautiful lake, which is fed with water from the nearby glacial ice through streams. This lake is a beautiful blue spot on the land and is an unforgettable sight to look at. As the trek does not transcend beyond 3200 meters above sea level, it is deemed to be suitable for trekkers of all ages and with all levels of prior-trekking experience.
