A perfect one day off beat destination for team outings and weekend getaways, place located on 40th mile from Bangalore and 20 Kms away from Ramnagar. The Narayangiri hills lies on Jalamangala village which is around 20 Kms from Ramnagar and is famously known for the boulders and vast number of caves.

 

This mountain is 3800 feet in height and has something very interesting things for everyone to explore. Also there is a small temple built in peak having idol of Lakshmi Narasimha which is open to devotees only on weekends, also there are parts of many forts which was constructed by the local ruler under surveillance of maharajas of Mysore (Wodeyar Dynasty) in 16th century.

 

Remains of the fort are like encircling the mountain which can be seen from the peak. Also there are vast number of natural caves, which can explored on the way to peak, you can find the footsteps near the foothills up to a point and then start trekking by entering the thick forests of Jalamangala which hosts many small wildlife and small creatures like lizards and also on a lucky mornings you can spot Peacocks which very few in numbers around the hills.

 

Trekking in this hill is main course of activity alongside some adventure games like Rock climbing and rappelling. It is advisable to be guided on your trek and also to start the trek early mornings in the cool weather, the trek at this place is moderate to start off and then at the reaching halfway it becomes challenging for a small distance which leads to the temple at the peak.

 

This is one of the unknown forty mountain peaks of Karnataka, also the infrastructure here is not developed and during the trek it is advisable to carry water bottles as the peak as no source for drinking water, also near the temple you can find ponds which are vastly contaminated by plastics, there many such small ponds wherein water are hygiene can be deployed in washing the faces.

  • 04:00AM Reach peak and relax by the bonfire
  • 06:30AM Descend at dawn
  • 08:00AM Reach base and head towards Campsite
  • 08:30AM Have breakfast
  • 09:30AM Water Activitiy like Kayaking
  • 12:00PM Leave to Bangalore
  • 01:00PM Reach Bangalore

  • Torch per person with extra batteries.
  • Sports shoes or trekking shoes in good condition
  • Backpack
  • Water bottles (enough to carry at least 2 liters of water)
  • Extra clothing (for kayaking & swimming)
  • Energy bars, dry fruits, flavored milk, Electrolyte drinks - Glucon-D etc.
  • Personal medication
  • Toiletries (napkin, tissues, etc.)
  • Track pants and cotton T-shirt
  • Rain coat/Poncho in moonsoons
